100 Days

This week the kindergarten celebrated 100 days of school.  I learned that for a 5 year old, counting to 100 is very tiring, especially when it involves threading a yarn through 100 fruit loops.  It literally can put a cramp in a little ones shoulder.  I also learned that a kindergartener believes that if you hold 100 helium balloons you will fly in the sky to Jesus.

ARRR, Matey!

This week in kindergarten I learned that when you wear a necklace with an anchor, you get mistaken for a pirate.

I'm awake!

Today I learned that kindergarten students know I'm asleep before I do. This year I'm an aide in the kindergarten at my children's elementary school.  This afternoon when I had come into the classroom after my lunch break, I was extra tired. I'm usually more sluggish after lunch than in the morning, but today was impossible!

As I sat at a table with 4 students working on a math sheet, I was helping them learn the number "10". When they finished their assignment, they colored the picture on their worksheet. Before I knew it, I heard the sweet little voice of student say, "Mrs. Ginger is asleep". With that, I snapped my eyes open (not realizing they were closed) and replied, "no I'm not, I'm just really tired".  About 15 minutes later after I had helped pack up the class they were all sitting on their big carpet listening to their teacher while I bided the time until I left to do crossing guard duties. As I patiently waited for the hands on the clock to turn I hear a second sweet voice quietly say, "look, she's asleep again". That did it, I was on my feet in a flash with eyes wide open.

The things I learn in Kindergarten.

Candy Apple

My 7 year old son asked if he could play on the computer this evening. A while later I went to check on him & he was searching climates & weather patterns in Nuuk, Greenland. I guess his sisters have been right all along. He is a NERD!

Apparently that sweet little apple didn't fall too far from the tree. When his Daddy was a boy, he used to look up different countries' geographic & economic productions (for fun).

6th is the New 1st

My cute Gracie who recently turned 11 has a huge smile on her beautiful face. For the past 6 years she has participated in her elementary school's running club. She runs a couple miles 2 days a week with the rest of her club & participates in 4 races each running season against runners from several other schools in our district. Well, yesterday was HER day! It was the 2nd race of the season. Our school was hosting 3 other schools and Gracie was the 6th fifth grade girl to cross the finish line! She's got the ribbon & smile to prove it! By the way she was jumping up & down and squealing with delight you'd have thought she won Olympic Gold. Good job Grace! Your consistency & hard work has payed off. We love you!
